Day 7 Sugar Detox Meal Plan

I'm so proud of everyone who has done this and gotten all the way to the end. It is not an easy task to give up so much for even a day, much less seven day! In this post I'm going to show an example of how to eat out while doing this plan. The key here is to cook most of your meals and give yourself one, maybe two meals out. I'm not talking about "grabbing something" when you're in a hurry...You should be able to plan and not be stuck with having to eat out. It should be a thought out choice because you want to be social and not feeling like you have to lock yourself away for a week while doing this meal plan. Go on a dinner date...just stick to the plan as best as you can.

Like I said yesterday, after today work your way back to eating what we have eliminated this week. You don't want to shock your system buy adding everything back in right away. That would defeat the purpose of the whole week! Start by adding fruit and healthy grains. Then, if you're feeling ok start adding other things back over the next week. I'm planning on cutting back on processed food for good, but I can't wait for some fruit and red wine!

Meals for Day 7

Breakfast

1/2 mug of warm lemon water 30 minutes before eating.

Egg Scramble

Chop asparagus, purple onion, and garlic and lightly sauté it in olive oil.

Scramble two eggs and add it to the veggies once they're soft.

Add in the rest of your leftover sweet potatoes and mix everything together while it cooks on medium.

Cook about 2 minutes for soft and 3-4 minutes for more well done.

Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne pepper (and Everything but the Bagel seasoning if you have it.

Top with the rest of the avocado spread from yesterdays salad, cilantro, and coat cheese crumbles.

Lunch

Today we went on a day date to our favorite burger spot in Nashville, Pharmacy Burger.

Depending on where you go, it should be easy to stick to this meal plan. You obviously can't go to McDonald's but you should never go there so...

Chicken Pesto Sandwich

I ordered sweet potato fries and the pesto chicken sandwich with no bun. I allowed myself to eat some aioli with my fries because it's amazing and it's the last day!

Dinner

These babies were meant to be Mediterranean but morphed into more of a turkey chili kind of situation! Delicious!

Turkey chili Zucchini Boats

Ingredients

4 zucchini

1 lb ground turkey

1/2 purple onion

3 cloves of garlic

1/2-1 green pepper

1/2-1 jalapeño

1 celery stalk

8 cherry tomatoes

1 shaved carrot

1/2 small can of tomato paste

2 TBSP chili powder

1 TBSP cumin

1-2 tsp garlic powder

Cayenne pepper to taste

2 TBSP turmeric

Sea salt to taste

Pepper to taste

Olive oil

Directions

Preheat oven to 400F.

Cook turkey until no longer pink.

Sauté chopped garlic, onions and celery in olive oil on medium high heat.

Add shaved carrot, chopped green pepper, jalapeño, and tomatoes.

Add tomato paste and stir well.

Cover and cook for about 10 minutes on medium heat until veggies are soft.

While filling is cooking, cut 4 zucchini in half and scoop out the middle.

Add about a cup of the middle of the zucchini to the filling.

Add all the spices to the turkey mixture and mix well.

Rub the zucchini with olive oil and place in a pan with high edges.

Taste and adjust seasoning. I always start with very little seasoning and adjust after tasting.

Carefully scoop turkey mix into the zucchini halves.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Top with cheddar cheese and sour cream if you're not doing this elimination diet.

They are really tasty even without the dairy (I did add a little sour cream to mine.)

Finish off with parsley!

Snacks

Goat cheese gouda and plantain chips
