Day 2- Sugar detox meal plan

You made it through yesterday and now you're back for more! Good job! This day and tomorrow will probably be the hard ones. I'm tired, cranky and really want a cup of coffee and a glass of wine with a side of Jennies roasted cherry ice cream, but I will prevail!

Our bodies have a hard time breaking habits. One day without something isn't hard, but two or three days without something we have every day isn't easy. Not only have we trained our bodies to love sugar, the bad bacteria that's taken over our gut is now starting to starve and it's sending signals to our brains that we NEED to feed them. You can do it though! Drink plenty of water, keep busy and keep your tummy full with these meals and snacks. Everything you're going to eat this week gives your body the nutrition it needs to survive. Meals for day 2

Breakfast

Again, start out with some lemon water with a little bit of honey. If the apple cider vinegar added to this mix seemed to help you then add it too. For some people, it's too much so I urge you to listen to your body. If you try something and it doesn't work for you, don't do it. Maybe you added too much so cut the amount in half or leave it out!

Day two detox breakfast

Roasted Grapefruit with avocado and walnuts

Preheat oven to 425

Cut grapefruit in half and bake for about 15 minutes.

Sprinkle with some cinnamon and enjoy!

Baby avocado (Or regular size) with olive oil, balsamic, sea salt, lemon pepper, garlic powder and EBTB seasoning from Trader Joe's.

Walnuts

A little plain kefir.

Grapefruit is a fruit and we're not supposed to be eating fruit, but it's very low in sugar and has actually been shown to be good for nutrition. Also, I love fruit. I'm not trying to punish myself. I'm trying to successfully reset my gut. So, if giving myself a little grapefruit throughout the week will give me the ability to push to seven days without eating something with more sugar, I'm going to allow it!

Matcha- I decided to drink the matcha after eating because I think on an empty stomach it was causing a little indigestion.

Lunch

Day two detox lunch

Quinoa bowl with chicken and veggies

Kolarabi kale mix from Trader Joe's (or any slaw mix), leftover broccolini, leftover red quinoa (cold or hot), cold leftover chicken, cucumber, avocado, tomato, goat cheese crumbles.

Layer it all in a bowl how ever you like.

Squeeze lemon juice, drizzle olive oil, and season with pink sea salt, lemon pepper, garlic powder, and EBTB seasoning

Dinner

I decided to go meatless for dinner and I wasn't that hungry so I made a big bowl of goodies to munch on. I eat like this a lot, but I realize this will feel more like a snack than a meal for some. If you want meat with this meal, go for it. Eat some more chicken or make yourself some kind of meat to go along with your veggies. As long as it follows the guidelines it's up to you!

Day two detox dinner

Roasted Veggie bowl

Coat okra, sweet potatoes, garlic cloves (leave in their skin), and green beans with olive oil, garlic powder, pepper, cayenne pepper, and turmeric.

Bake at 425F for about 15-20 mins or until soft.

Remove skin from garlic and serve everything on top of leftover red quinoa with goat cheese gouda, pumpkin seeds and olives on the side and some pea sprouts on top (optional)!

Snacks

Walnuts, turmeric tea with a little lemon and honey, sauerkraut, cucumbers and hummus, a few sweet potato fries here and there. TONS of water- some with lime squeezed in to make it not so boring.

Any time you're doing an elimination diet it's important to drink plenty of water to aid your body in flushing out any toxins that are being displaced. I also get outside. It's been really nice here and getting fresh air and sun is so good for your whole body, physically and mentally.
