Morning Ritual Tea

This is simply lemon, honey and ginger in hot water. Lemon is great way to jumpstart your digestive system. It wakes up your digestive juices so you will be able to properly break down what you are putting in your body. Contrary to what you may think, lemon water in the morning also helps with heartburn. Did you know that many people who suffer from heartburn (GERD) have LOW stomach acid?

Low stomach acid makes it hard for your body to break down and use all the good food you're eating. Ginger also aids in digestion and absorption of nutrients and is great for calming an upset stomach. LOCAL honey is helpful for allergies and has many antioxidants plus it's anti fungal/anti viral. WIN WIN WIN!

Morning tea

Roughly chop ginger so it will stay at the bottom of your mug. You can also strain your tea before drinking it or put the ginger in a tea steeper.

Ingredients

Mug of hot water

1/2 small lemon

1/4 tsp chopped ginger

1/2 TBSP honey

Directions

Let ingredients steep in hot water for 3-5 mins and drink up. Wait about 30 mins to eat, if possible

to let your tummy wake up.

*Disclaimer- I was diagnosed with GERD and was prescribed a proton pump inhibitor. I took it and it made my heartburn significantly worse. I did a ton of research and came to the conclusion that my problem was low stomach acid. BUT, I am not a Doctor. If you have been medically diagnosed with GERD do your own research and talk to your MD before you try anything different. What works for me might not work for you and you should never take yourself off a medication without talking to your doctor first.
